One Little Achievement

Salam readers,
It has been a while since the last time I wrote something in this blog. I have so many thing to write but I have so many things to do regarding my study and personal stuff. But one thing for sure: I have less than a year to finish my study leave!! My oh my how fast time flies!!
On the other hand, I feel relieved because my research has been recognised by the public because all this while I just wonder whether my reaseach is worth doing or not since there is not many publications or academic papers discuss specifically about my topic. An article has been published in New Scientist magazine in one of their weekly November issues that discuss about the work in my area of research.

Resepi Pertama: Homemade Chicken Burger

Sebenarnya lama dah nak post resipi ni, tapi dah siap-siap menulis dan tiba masa nak tepek resepi entah macam mana boleh hang pulak Word saya ni. Lepas tu bila buka Word balik tak ada pulak recovery file. Punya la angin satu badan terus tutup semuanya. Malas nak ingat semula apa yang dah ditulis sebelumnya. Oklah lupakan kisah tensi itu. Mari kita tengok apa yang saya nak tepekkan.. Resepi ni adalah dari Ina Garten, pengacara Barefoot Contessa, antara celebrity chef kegemaran saya pasal ada la juga beberapa masakan dia yang saya dah cuba dan hasilnya memang enak! Resepi ni asalnya untuk buat meatloaf dimana daging yang diletak semua bahan akan dipanggang seketul besar terus. Oleh kerana meatloaf ni kena dipanggang sekaligus dan ambil masa yang lama jadi saya jadikan aje burger, jadi masa memasak sangat singkat dan boleh masak ikut kuantiti kita nak. Mari kita lihat bahan-bahannya yang saya dah ubah ikut citarasa saya ye kawan2:

2 large onions chopped yellow onions

2 tbsps good olive oil (saya pakai minyak sayuran je)

2 tsps salt

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (½ teaspoon dried) (ganti parsley pun boleh)

⅓ cup Worcestershire sauce (saya belasah brown sauce aje)

190ml (¾ cup) chicken stock (letak je chicken cube barang setengah kiub)

1½ tsps cili sos

2.27kg (5 lbs) ground chicken

1½ cups plain dry bread crumbs (saya pakai cream cracker dikisar tak berapa halus-amaun yg sama)

3 extra-large eggs, beaten



Preheat oven to 165°C (325°F).

In a medium saute pan, over medium-low heat, cook the onions, olive oil, salt, pepper, and thyme until translucent, but not browned, approximately 15 minutes. Add the Worcestershire sauce, chicken stock, and cili sos and mix well. Allow to cool to room temperature.

Combine the ground chicken, bread crumbs, eggs, and onion mixture in a large bowl. Mix well, get a small amount and shape into a round shape, a little bit smaller than a tennis ball and press it to form a burger shape. Repeat the process until finished.

Kalau nak disimpan dalam freezer pastikan burger-burger tu dipisahkan dengan plastic (plastic bungkus makanan dipotong ikut saiz bekas simpanan). Sangat mudah nak buat dan sangat sedap hasilnya. Selain boleh dibuat burger, saya juga gunakan daging burger saya ni untuk buat spageti meatballs. Kalau saya teringin nak buat meatballs, saya hanya defrost burger saya dalam 5-6 keping, tunggu betul lembut lepas tu saya bentuk jadikan bebola kecil dan bakar dalam oven sampai masak. Senang kan kan kan?? Wan n Diana dah buat nanti sila komen ye :)

Penawar Duka dan Stress Saya

Saya ada satu kesukaan yang saya sangat suka dan apabila saya melakukannya saya lupa masalah-masalah saya, kerja sekolah-kerja sekolah saya, dan saya rasa sangat seronok apabila dapat melakukannya. Kesukaan saya yang saya sebut-sebutkan ini sebenarnya adalah memasak dan membakar. Walaupun mungkin ada orang yang akan annoyed dengan mengatakan, "eleh..suka masak pon nak kecoh-kecoh..apa ada hal..", tapi saya tak kisah pasal-

#1:saya sangat bersyukur kesukaan ini member faedah kepada keluarga saya terutamanya kerana mereka dapat makan sedap hasil eksperimen saya terhadap makanan-makanan yang saya masak.

#2: saya sayangkan duit saya yang taklah sebanyak manapun.. sebab bila makan di luar especially di UK ni, kalau nak makan fine dining orang kata, boleh tahan mahalnya. Daripada saya bayar £10-£15 untuk sepinggan hidangan lamb rib yang ciput aje, baik duit tu saya beli lamb kat kedai Pakistan, saya sekeluarga dapat makan lambchop sekenyang-kenyangnya. Unless kalau ada special occasion macam birthday ke, anniversary ke, sekali-sekala boleh lakan..

#3: saya dapat sediakan makanan berkhasiat untuk keluarga saya sebab saya tau apa yang saya letak dalam makanan yang saya masak. Contohnya burger, hubby dan anak-anak saya memang hantu burger. Walaupun ada jual frozen burger kat kedai, saya tak tergamak nak bagi anak-anak saya makan pasal Tuhan je tahu apa diorang letak dalam tu. Oleh kerana itu saya tak kisah nak menyusahkan diri seminggu sekali buat aje burger sendiri, beli sekilo daging cincang fresh, masuk bahan-bahan yang sepatutnya, tepek-tepek dapat 15 kpg burger. Hendak seribu dayakan..

#4: ini blog saya, suka hati saya la nak tulis apa pun kan kan..he he..


Pada awalnya saya plan nak buat lagi satu blog khas untuk resepi dan hidangan yang saya dah buat untuk rujukan saya di kemudian hari atau pun kalau ada yang sudi nak cuba, tapi satu blog ni pun tak terbela, ada hati nak 2 blog! Oleh yang demikian, bermula hari ini saya nak merojakkan blog saya ini dengan semua benda yang berkaitan dengan hidup saya, termasuklah aktiviti memasak kesukaan saya! Jemputlah jamu mata dengan hasil kerja saya sebelum ini sebagai mukaddimah..

Birhday cake abah, kek ad-hoc pasal balik dr sekolah terus buat, pakai pulak loyang yang berlubang tengah, x dan tunggu sejuk dah keluarkan dari loyang, sudahnya hasil macam kawah gunung berapi la, konon boleh la touch up dengan kit kat n m&ms, tapi tak kisah la pasal hasilnya memuaskan dan yang penting ingatan seorang isterikan..hihi..

One of his statements captured my eyes and I find it very remarkable: "My father made me understand that a work ethic is important and that you can never rely on other people to help you achieve what you want to".

Well his father's damn right! If only some people can appreciate and hold the value as well. On top of that, we are special because we have someONE that we can rely on 100%: ALLAH S.W.T. InsyaALLAH you'll find your way :-)

Apabila Aku Terpaksa Berkata Benar..

Walaupun ianya pahit. Kadangkala apabila kita buat sesuatu dengan berniat baik hatta ingin berkonsi pengetahuan yang ada, orang kata kita tunjuk pandai, menegur dengan harapan keadaan jadi bertambah baik, buruk pula jadinya. Walau apapun aku pasti, keputusan aku itu adalah dengan dorongan Allah yang Maha Mengetahui segalanya, jadi Dialah yang akan menentukan apa yang akan terjadi pada masa depan. Aku sentiasa ingat pesan suamiku, setiap kebaikan yang kita buat itu adalah dorongan dari Allah sebenarnya, sebab itu kita tidak boleh mengungkit-ungkit kebaikan yang kita lakukan terhadap orang lain, dan keburukan yang kita buat adalah dorongan syaitan dan nafsu kita sendiri. Oleh itu aku pasrah..

Tia – 7.5 bulan

Saja nak tulis pasal anak dara saya yang nak masuk 8 bulan lagi 2 minggu. Beberapa minggu lepas sampai sekarang dia menunjukkan perkembangan yang sangat pantas. Baru minggu lepas dia dah berjaya merangkak, hari ini dia dah mula berdiri, pagi tadi masa saya baring dia gunakan saya sebagai pemegang untuk dia berdiri, bila petang tadi pula dia dah berani berpegang pada sofa. Kalau ikut kakak dia, umur 9 bulan insyaAllah boleh jalan dah. Saya bersyukur pada ALLAH kerana anak-anak saya dapat membesar di hadapan mata saya dan saya dapat melihat perkembangan mereka. Semoga mereka terus membesar dengan sihat walafiat dan dikurniakan kesihatan yang baik serta dipermudahkan urusan kami di sini, insyaALLAH..

A Simple Way to Handle Your Life

This article was taken from here. I find it very useful and I would like to keep it here as a reminder for myself.

Health:

1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a
beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that
is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E's — Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
5. Make time for prayer..
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2009.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9 Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:

11. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their
journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead
invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake.
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her

Marhaban Ya Ramadhan..

Sempena Ramadhan yang mulia yang bakal tiba saya memohon maaf kepada semua dan selamat menyambut Ramadhan Al-Mubarak. Semoga ar-Rayyan menjadi destinasi kita kelak..

DARIPADA Sahl bin Sa'ad berkata bersabda Nabi Muhammad SAW:
"Sesungguhnya di syurga ada pintu yang bernama ar-Rayyan tempat masuk orang yang berpuasa pada hari kiamat. Tidak dapat masuk dari pintu itu kecuali orang yang berpuasa, dipanggil oleh penjaganya: "Di manakah orang yang telah berpuasa?" Dan tidak dapat masuk ke situ kecuali mereka yang berpuasa saja, dan jika semuanya telah selesai masuk, maka pintu itu ditutup, dan tidak masuk melaluinya melainkan mereka yang berpuasa saja."(Hadis riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim)

Setelah beberapa hari keputusan hubungan dengan dunia..

Tu dia tajuk..actually laptop saya bermasalah dari Ahad lepas, monitor dah pecah, nak claim insurance macam-macam pulak diorang nak..at last beli je desktop pc.
Berbalik kepada tajuk di atas, barulah saya nampak betapa pentingnya internet kepada kita, kalau 6 tahun lepas sebelum rumah kami ada internet, kehidupan macam biasa aje, tapi bile tiba-tiba terputus bekalan macam ni barulah saya nampak kesannya, terutamanya suami saya, mati kutu dia dibuatnya, kalau sebelum ni balik kerja penat macam mana pun ok lagi, tapi bila takde internet balik keje terus lemah longlai. Lawak aje tengok dia. Saya pulak sebelum ni kalau apa-apa yang terfikir dalam otak ni nak mencari terus aje capai laptop. Jadi bila tak ada internet terus blur.
Tapi sekarang tidak lagi! Dia dah back to normal sebab internet dah seperti sediakala dan saya pulak suka hati nak cari apa-apa saya nak sebab hubungan kami dengan dunia telah bertaut kembali.

Tension gue!!

Pasal apa telah berkali-kali saya cuba masuk customize page untuk blog saya sentiasa gagal?? Niat di hati nak tukar apa-apa yang patut pasal dah jemu tengok kaler hijo nih. Adakah anda menghadapi masalah yang sama?? Tolong!!

Funny Naufal

Naufal sekarang dah 3 ½ tahun, dah masuk nursery almost 5 months. Bila perhatikan perkembangan dia, especially in English, memang dia dah banyak peningkatan. Sebelum hantar dia pegi school memang kami tak guna sangat English kat rumah, so masa dia masuk nursery last September memang sikit sangat English vocab yang dia ada. Tapi sekarang saya perhatikan, kebanyakan masa bila cakap dengan kakak mesti dalam English, walaupun vocab dia quite limited, cakap pon ala2 rojak tapi dia still confident nak cakap in English. Tadi lepas solat masa tengah doa saya terdengar dia borak dengan kakak, memang tergelak tak boleh tahan la dibuatnya.

Inlander, president of The People's Medical Society, for some home remedies that may help you feel better along the way.

No. 1: Blow Your Nose Often -- and the Right Way

It's important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can cause an earache. The best way to blow your nose: Press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Wash your hands after blowing your nose.

No. 2: Stay Rested

Resting when you first come down with a cold or the flu helps your body direct its energy toward the immune battle. This battle taxes the body. So give it a little help by lying down under a blanket.

No. 3: Gargle

Gargling can moisten a sore throat and bring temporary relief. Try a teaspoon of salt dissolved in warm water, four times daily. To reduce the tickle in your throat, try an astringent gargle -- such as tea that contains tannin -- to tighten the membranes. Or use a thick, viscous gargle made with honey, popular in folk medicine. Steep one tablespoon of raspberry leaves or lemon juice in two cups of hot water; mix with one teaspoon of honey. Let the mixture cool to room temperature before gargling. Honey should never be given to children less than 1 year old.

No. 4: Drink Hot Liquids

Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, help prevent dehydration, and can soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.

No. 5: Take a Steamy Shower

Steamy showers moisturize your nasal passages and relax you. If you're dizzy from the flu, run a steamy shower while you sit on a chair nearby and take a sponge bath.

No. 6: Use a Salve Under Your Nose

A small dab of mentholated salve under your nose can open breathing passages and help soothe the irritated skin at the base of the nose. Menthol, eucalyptus and camphor all have mild numbing ingredients that may help relieve the pain of a nose rubbed raw.

No. 7: Apply Hot or Cold Packs Around Your Congested Sinuses

Either temperature may help you feel more comfortable. You can buy reusable hot or cold packs at a drugstore. Or make your own. Take a damp washcloth and heat it for 55 seconds in a microwave (test the temperature first to make sure it's right for you.) Or take a small bag of frozen peas to use as a cold pack.

No. 8: Sleep With an Extra Pillow Under Your Head

This will help with the drainage of nasal passages. If the angle is too awkward, try placing the pillows between the mattress and the box springs to create a more gradual slope.

No. 9: Don't Fly Unless Necessary

There's no point adding stress to your already stressed-out upper respiratory system, and that's what the change in air pressure will do. Flying with cold or flu congestion can hurt your eardrums as a result of pressure changes during takeoff and landing. If you must fly, use a decongestant and carry a nasal spray with you to use just before takeoff and landing. Chewing gum and swallowing frequently can also help relieve pressure.

Remember, serious conditions can masquerade as the common cold and a mild infection can evolve into something more serious. If you have severe symptoms or are feeling sicker with each passing day, see a doctor.

Aktiviti Cuti Sekolah Kami

Last week term holiday kat sini seminggu, since abah dah keje payah la pulak nak kuar berjalan-jalan cuti nih. Sudahnya, banyak la aktiviti hanya kat rumah, n adik kakak pon ada hobi baru, buat puzzle! Bila cuaca panas sikit, naik basikal jalan2 kat luar rumah. Tapi sekarang suhu makin rendah la, hari2 hujan n sgt sejuk!!

Birthday Bash Kakak + Friends & Birthday Naufal Julai Lepas(belated posting..lupa daa..)

Minggu lepas anak dara saya sambut besday dia yg ke 5 tahun. Kakak memang looking forward birthday dia sejak adik punye birthday masa bulan 7 lagi. Kalau dia tau je sesape sambut birthday, mesti dia akan tanya umi, "birthday kakak lambat lagi ye umi?" atau "bila birthday kakak umi?".

Jadinya umi rasa tahun ni nak raikan hari jadi dia extra special pasal umi rasa dia dah faham apa yang dia nak sambut. So this year tanpa dirancang dia dah sambut birthday dia 3 kali dalam masa seminggu.

Kali pertama masa pagi birthday dia. Dia dengan adik pulak kebetulan hari tuh bangun awal. Pukul 7.00 pagi dah bangun. Macam tahu-tahu je nak sambut birthday dia..








Birthday ke2 kakak celebrate kat school dia, mula-mula memang ingat tak nak celebrate kat school tp since class teacher kakak pun nak buat party untuk birthday dia, so umi pun join la skali kasi happening sikit. Memang kakak seronok sangat dapt celebrate birhday dia kat school dengan kawan-kawan dia..





Last sekali birthday party kakak dan 3 lagi kawan-kawan dia, buat sekali di rumah kami. Yang paling seronok dah tentu la budak-budakkan, tapi mak bapak budak pun seronok jugak, sekali sekala dapat jumpa, bertukartukar cerita, memang happeninglah!!
Mak lang pun datang all the way from Birmingham..memang best..










Ini pulak birthday adik da nsorang lagi kawan dia-Dina. Umi lupa nak post lepas party, maybe masa tu tengah banyak keje sampai tak sempat nak layan blog. Tak posting apa-apa pasal birthday ni nanti next time bila nak tengok-tengok balik di masa akan datang tak de pulak apa-apa yang nak dikenangkan, terasa sayang pulak. Jadinya lewat pun lewatlah..asalkan dapat disimpan sebagai kenangan..












Untuk anak-anak umi, umi doakan semoga anak-anak umi menjadi anak yang soleh dan solehah, berjaya di dunia dan yang penting di akhirat..

Itu sahaja sambutan birthday untuk tahun ini agaknya. Birthday saya bulan depan tapi tak adalah sambutan bagai..jika umur dapat sampai ke hari jadi pun dah syukur ALHAMDULILLAH..
